As with our frogs, we let the paludarium for the vampire crabs soak for 2 weeks and filled it with springtails and woodlice.
We had decided to go for 10 purple/yellow ones. There were only 9 left, so we ended up buying 9.
When we got home, we placed the containers with the vampire crabs in the paludarium, so they could walk out themselves.
As soon as they climbed out of the boxes, they immediately started looking for hiding places. After that, we hardly saw them for 2 weeks. This was a bit disappointing. We wanted to enjoy them right away. Still, we had to give them some time.
After these 2 weeks, we started seeing them more and more. Especially in the morning. Then they mainly walked towards the water features and ate the moss, a worm or an old leaf.
